How to Find Saved Passwords on Mac (3 Ways)

It seems that macOS just keeps getting better and better with every update. With iCloud Keychain your passwords can be synced across your apple devices. You can access all these saved passwords within your Mac. I will show you three different ways How to Find Saved Passwords on Mac.

  2. From the Apple menu select System Settings
  3. On the system settings select Passwords
  4. Enter your Mac Password to unlock
  5. Highlight website from the list
  6. Click the show detail button
  7. Hover over the hidden password to revel

How to View Saved Passwords in System Settings

The first way to find all your saved passwords is by using the macOS system settings. This will be the most appropriate as some will not use Safari as their web browser.

If the below doesn’t work for you then it is an indication your Mac may need updating. As these options only come onboard with macOS Monterey. But there are still two options open for you if this doesn’t work just below.

Step 1. In the top left-hand corner click the Apple Menu ()

From here you have a few more options other than just discovering your password.

  • Change your password – Select edit then select “Change Password on Website
  • Delete your password – Select edit then select “Delete Password

How to View Saved Passwords in Safari

If you are using an earlier version of macOS Monterey then you can use Safari to find all your saved passwords.

If you are not a Safari user then you have one more option. By using “Keychain Access” which is available to all Mac users regardless of your macOS.

Step 1. Open Safari

Step 2. In the top left-hand corner click Safari then Settings

How to Find Saved Passwords on Mac With Keychain Access

If you are using a macOS before Monterey and you don’t use Safari then you have one last option to find your passwords.

Below I will show you How to Find Saved Passwords on Mac With Keychain Access. You can use this method to find any password on your Mac.

You can use this method to find passwords from applications or websites. You can even use this to find out your Wi-Fi password.

Step 1. Open Spotlight Search

Step 2. Search “keychain access” and open 

Step 3. From the search box in the top right corner search for the App or Website

Step 4. In the Find window double-click the App or Website

Step 6. Enter your Mac Password to unlock
