In most cases, the red notification badge is helpful allowing you to see if something is or has happened on an app. Yet, most people start to have a problem with it when it comes to emails. We’ve all been there when you have hundreds of unread emails, right? Well, I will show you How to Hide Red Notification Badges on Mac on all apps, not only your email.
- In the top left-hand corner click the Apple Menu ()
- From the Apple menu select System Settings
- On the system settings select Notifications
- Select an app from the Application Notifications
- Tab off the “Badge application icon” to hide the red badge notification

How to Hide Red Notification Badges on Mac
On macOS, there are usually two types of notifications a simple red circle or one with numbers in it.
Now, this is fine to see a couple of unread text messages but when you have hundreds of unread emails. That notification badge becomes super annoying.
Leaving most people wanting to get rid of that little red circle of doom.
So let’s look at How do I get rid of badge notifications:
Step 1. In the top left-hand corner click the Apple Menu ()
Step 2. From the Apple menu select System Settings
Step 3. On the system settings select Notifications
Step 4. Select an app from the Application Notifications
Step 5. Tab off the “Badge application icon” to hide the red badge notification
You can select any app from the list if you want to turn off the badge notification. This is not just limited to the mail app.
Once you have the “Badge application icon” toggled off the red notification icon will disappear.
If you ever want to see notifications for the app you have turned off return to the same place and toggle the same tab back on.
You can also decide to completely Hide the Mac Dock if you don’t want to see it.
