How to Remove Touch ID on Mac

Are you using the Mac Touch ID feature to unlock your Mac or any other number of features it can unlock? Some just don’t get along with the Touch ID and if this is you you will want to know How to Remove Touch ID on Mac? Below is a quick and easy guide to removing it from your Mac.

  1. In the top left-hand corner click the Apple Menu ()
  2. From the Apple menu select System Preferences
  3. From system preferences select Touch ID
  4. Hover over the Finger ID and select the X
  5. Enter the Mac password
  6. Confirm the removal by selecting Delete
  7. The touch ID will be successfully removed

How to Remove Touch ID on MacBook

The Touch ID is more than just for opening your Mac. Yet, if you just don’t like it then it is easy to remove.

Only logged-in Mac users are able to remove their own Touch ID. Admin users are also unable to remove other users’ Touch IDs.

Below is a step-by-step guide to removing the Touch ID:

Step 1. In the top left-hand corner click the Apple Menu ()

Step 2. From the Apple menu select System Preferences

Step 3. From system preferences select Touch ID

Step 4. Hover over the Finger ID and select the X

Step 5. Enter the Mac password

Step 6. Confirm the removal by selecting Delete

Step 7. The touch ID will be successfully removed
