How to Switch Keyboard Language on Mac

Sharing your Mac with someone who uses a different language than you? Or was your Mac shipped with a different keyboard language? Well, in any case, you are going to want to know How to Switch Keyboard Language on Mac.

  1. In the top left-hand corner click the Apple Menu ()
  2. From the Apple menu select System Settings
  3. On the system settings select Keyboard
  4. From the Text Input sub-menu select “Edit” on “Input Sources
  5. Now select the + symbol from “Input Sources
  6. Select a preferred language from the popup window
  7. Click Add
  8. On the Mac toolbar, click the language icon to choose the language for your keyboard input

What is the keyboard shortcut for changing language?

Using Mac keyboard shortcuts on the Mac can speed up many processes, and hundreds can help you out.

You can even use them to quickly change between keyboard languages:

  • control (^) + option (⌥) + space to view all languages and switch to one language
  • control (^) + space to switch between two input languages

Notice: In some scenarios, for example, an update ed macOS shortcut key may not work and you are required to use the Input menu bar to switch languages.
